Mellisa recently returned to Calgary from Aberdeen, Scotland where she completed her Master’s of Science in Physiotherapy in 2021. She completed two years of clinical rotations around the beautiful Aberdeenshire working for the Scottish National Health Service. Prior to this Mellisa completed a Bachelor’s of Kinesiology in Mind Sciences With Distinction from the University of Calgary in 2019.

Mellisa developed her passion for pediatric physiotherapy through working in a pediatric clinic throughout her undergraduate degree, student placements during her post-graduate degree, and during her clinical rotations in Scotland. She has experience with treating all ages for musculoskeletal injuries including: fractures, apophysitis, and sports injuries. Mellisa is passionate about helping kids of all ages get back to their activities whether that’s hockey, dance, or the playground!

Mellisa is heavily involved in highland dancing and continues to compete Nationally and Internationally. Her highest achievements include winning the Canadian Championships three times and finishing second at the World Championships twice. Mellisa’s interest in injury prevention and rehabilitation stem from dance-related injuries throughout her dance career. Additionally, Mellisa has years of experience in Imperial ballet, completing her Intermediate exam, as well as years of dance experience in a variety of styles from attending the Performing and Visual Arts Program throughout high school.

Outside of the clinic, you can find Mellisa cheering on the Calgary Flames, seeking out good food spots, or supporting local businesses.
