What is a Physiotherapist?

Physiotherapists are highly trained medical professionals with a focus on injury rehabilitation. They are experts on how your body moves and what stops it from moving.  Many people have an injury or condition that can make moving difficult and this can affect every aspect of day-to-day life, from working in an office to sports performance.  Physiotherapists are movement specialists that use a hands-on approach to help you restore, maximize, and maintain movement and function throughout your life.

At Peak Health & Performance, our physiotherapists are highly trained with a Masters level in university education.  They have extensive experience in a wide array of injuries, with advanced training in a variety of acupuncture, muscle therapy, and rehabilitative courses.  Our physiotherapists will get you moving and keep you moving!

What Happens During a Physiotherapy Visit?

The physiotherapist will complete a detailed history taking, followed by an extensive hands-on assessment including the evaluation of pain and movement patterns, joint mobility and flexibility, muscular strength, and reflexes.  If necessary, the physiotherapist will also examine any relevant imaging results, laboratory tests, and medical/surgical notes.

Based on the history and examination results, the physiotherapist will establish a diagnosis and work with you to develop a treatment plan based on your individualized goals.  Emphasis is placed on correcting the pain and dysfunction, and then preventing its recurrence.

At Peak Health & Performance, the physiotherapist will provide hands-on treatment at every visit.
